Public Smoking Ban In The UK Free Essays

Smoking is a significant salary to the administration; it realizes in à ¯Ã¢ ¿Ã¢ ½10 billion pounds every year. The administration has continued to raise the assessment pace of tobacco over the swelling rate from 1993 to the current day, this was executed to help lessen utilization further. This strategy has come about that charge on tobacco in the UK is among the most noteworthy on the planet and a long ways in front of any of those in other EU part states. We will compose a custom paper test on Open Smoking Ban In The UK or on the other hand any comparative theme just for you Request Now For instance the cost of an ordinary pack of cigarettes in the UK is presently à ¯Ã¢ ¿Ã¢ ½5.54, while in Belgium the cost is about à ¯Ã¢ ¿Ã¢ ½2.70 and in Latvia they retail at a negligible 42p. The expense to the NHS of smoking related sicknesses is by and large not accepted to exceed the salary the administration makes out of tobacco deals. The administration is by and large exceptionally deceptive of themselves on the grounds that a lot of open cash originates from the duty of cigarettes and yet the legislature is attempting to stop individuals structure smoking by prohibiting individuals to smoke in broad daylight places and furthermore with adverts on TV encouraging individuals to quit smoking. There has been a ton of resistance to the smoking boycott of which the contentions have been that the boycott will be tragic to little bars that depend on smokers to keep their business above water. Little bar proprietors have said that they will free crucial exchange from individuals who regularly go out to the bar to have a smoke and a 16 ounces who currently will remain at home rather and smoke and drink there. A thump on impact of the monetary down turn is seen to be lost positions over the business and rising bar costs as proprietors would have no real option except to finance their loss of business by expanding costs. The conclusion of bars would at last outcome in an absence of decision for the client. Individuals who are still against the boycott contend elective techniques for how to decrease the wellbeing effect of uninvolved smoking. The presentation of the utilization of ventilation is viewed by some as a sufficient arrangement all alone. A few respondents are unequivocally of the sentiment that ventilation evacuates all the hurtful impacts of smoking from the air. Assigned smoking territories in broad daylight places are have recently been utilized before the smoking boycott became effective in different shopping centers, eateries and clubs. Individuals didn't grumble about these smoking territories, of which individuals who needed to smoke could do as such back to front of the method of others who would not like to smoke. Individuals against the smoking boycott contend that different assigned smoking regions with great ventilation is a superior elective at that point restricting smoking out in the open places by and large. The legislature doesn’t need to stop there with forbidding smoking. They have nearly prohibited the privileges of individuals to smoke in their own vehicle. The law presently expresses that if the driver is smoking and doesn't have full control of the vehicle the driver can be arraigned for smoking while at the same time driving. This is an expansion of the momentum law which is that the driver must have full control of the vehicle consistently. What I don't comprehend is that why the administration feels that they currently must have a different law to cover smoking while at the same time driving, does that not likewise go under the law that expresses that the driver must have full control of the vehicle consistently? There have now additionally been discussions that a law is attempting to be passed to stop grown-ups smoking in their own vehicle while a kid is available, is this trying to say to the country that they can't take care of their own youngsters? Ibi from Birmingham believes that forbidding smoking is a path for the administration to remove the entirety of our good times. â€Å"This appears to be alright however doesnt any other individual stress over this being a dangerous incline. Initially, no smoking out in the open spots, at that point no smoking by any means, at that point no drinking, no yelling, no chuckling, no talking and no good times. What's more, when this is totally done they will discover another thing to boycott. Furthermore, im a non smoker.† Howard John Dell from Chelmsford concurs that the cash made by the legislature from smokers is too high to even consider ignoring the privileges of one of its greatest cash creators. â€Å"I don't concur with an all out restriction on smoking. It is my entitlement to smoke and the administration make a lot of cash from my smoking through assessments which effectively pays for any wellbeing cost tot he NHS.† Colin McEwan from Edinburgh concurs that the smoking boycott could have greater financial results than we might suspect. â€Å"The Scottish government is drafting its own guidelines in regards to smoking and is by all accounts twisted on an all out boycott. This, in my view is out of line as of now. I work in Ireland where such a boycott has, I accept, diminished bar deals generously in certain territories and has cost numerous occupations. I have no issue with the contention that individuals must not be exposed to inactive smoking. Yet, the other options, for example, assigned smoking territories with legitimate ventilation have not been appropriately thought of. Sure it will be hard to execute appropriately yet the ‘Ban it everywhere’ unit doesn't appear to be keen on the rationale †¦ just the principle.† The smoking boycott creases to be bolstered by a lot more non-smokers than smokers. I feel that since smokers are a minority here, the greater part have won their case out and out. There creases to be more appropriate elective techniques than the restricting of smoking out in the open places totally. I imagine that the forbidding of smoking in broad daylight places was a strategy set up by the administration to attempt to win the votes of most of individuals since individuals had lost confidence in the present government in view of the as of now fruitless intrusion of Iraq. 1. Individual personal attributes of note are factors that depict a person. Factors, for example, age, sexual orientation, conjugal status and residency. These qualities affect the perspectives that an individual may have towards work and ward variable, for example, efficiency, non-attendance, and turnover and employment fulfillment. The connection among age and employment execution is critical in light of the fact that it is accepted that activity execution diminishes as age increments. In spite of the fact that not all businesses have view of more established workers. From a positive point of view it is noticed that more established representatives have more understanding, judgment, morals and duty. Moreover, with more seasoned representatives, work turnover is diminished. Due to their more extended residency inside the association they will in general appreciate expanded wages, annuity and numerous different advantages and are subsequently less inclined to leave. With respect to non-attendance and more established representatives, the proof is anyway blended. In spite of the fact that there are diminishes in avoidable non-attendance rates contrasted with more youthful workers, there is an expansion in unavoidable rates because of unforeseen weakness because old enough, and longer recuperation periods. Anyway from a negative point it is noticed that more seasoned workers need adaptability, there is a lessening in their efficiency because of diminished speed, spryness, quality and co-appointment and protection from change in an evolving domain. Therefore, associations are hesitant to enlist more established representatives. Also, they will in general conserve them first with regards to cutting back. Sexual orientation in work execution has no proof that it influences work fulfillment. Anyway there is a distinction in work plans since ladies generally incline toward low maintenance work or work adaptability because of family obligations. Concerning truancy ladies as a rule have a higher pace of non-appearance than men as ladies generally care for the family. For instance when kids are debilitated, the moms will in general take off work so as to deal with such wiped out youngsters. Hitched workers by and large have a diminishing in non-appearance, turnover and an expansion in work fulfillment. This might be because of expanded duties. With respect to residency, there is a positive connection among status and employment execution and a negative connection among residency and non-attendance. That is an expansion in residency and rank will in general lead to better execution and an expansion in residency to prompt reduction in turnover. Individuals are organization’s generally significant and costly asset, yet they are the most troublesome component of an association to oversee. People are interminably extraordinary, they act distinctively in various conditions and are, from various perspectives, completely capricious. This implies, in contrast to machines, they are not compatible or ready to be handily intended to carry out the responsibilities expected of them. As far as the association, what we are keen on is the manner by which individuals act at work-that they perform successfully in quest for the organisation’s objectives. The beginning stage for this is a comprehension of what causes individuals to carry on in the manner they do. In spite of the fact that clinicians don't concede to a solitary meaning of character, there is some agreement that it is worried about qualities examples of conduct and methods of reasoning that decide a person’s acclimation to nature (Hilgard et al 1979:108). Two highlights of the above definition are vital. In any case, the word â€Å"characteristic† recommends a level of execution in character. In the subsequent spot, â€Å"environment† proposes that character is shown in a social and physical setting. Past this accord, there is an extraordinary arrangement difference over the turn of events, structure and elements of character. The right translation and utilization of the consequences of character measures and tests relies a lot upon the hypothesis or approach on which the instruments are based. Without this information, the depiction of character likely could be miused. Character can in this manner be alluded to a unique idea depicting the development and advancement of a person’s entire mental framework. It takes a gander at the entire individual as opposed to at the whole of the individual parts. It is the dynamic association inside the person of those psychophysical frameworks that decide their one of a kind changes in accordance with their condition. A by and large extraordinary way to deal with character focuses on distinguishing and characterizing those highlights that people may share. The various classes or types serve to stress the similitudes inside each gathering and the contrasts between the gatherings. These endeavors to group character highlights are regularly alluded to as the sort or quality methodology. There are various character determinants, in particular, Heredity, the Environment, or the Situation. Heredity is the way toward transmitting natural qualities from parent to posterity through qualities, the essential units of heredity. Heredity likewise alludes to the acquired qualities of an individual, including characteristics, for example, stature, eye shading, and blood classification. Heredity represents why posterity resemble their folks: when two pooches mate, for instance, they have young doggies, not cats. In the event that the guardians are the two Chihuahuas, the pups will likewise be Chihuahuas, not extraordinary Danes or Labrador retrievers. The young doggies might be somewhat taller or shorter, a little lighter or much heavier than their folks are. Their appearances may look somewhat changed, or they may have various abilities and dispositions. In all the significant attributes, howeverâ€the number of appendages, plan of organs, general size, hide typeâ€they will share the qualities of their folks. The standards of heredity remain constant for a little dog as well as for an infection, a roundworm, a pansy, or a human. Hereditary qualities is the investigation of how heredity functions and, specifically, of qualities. An infection has as not many as twelve qualities. A basic roundworm has 5000 to 8000 qualities, while a corn plant has 60,000. The development of a human requires an expected 50,000 qualities. Character qualities are not totally directed by heredity nonetheless, as else they would continue as before all through life regardless of the encounters we have. Condition is alluded to the entirety of the outer variables influencing a creature. These components might be other living life forms (biotic elements) or nonliving factors (abiotic factors, for example, temperature, precipitation, day length, wind, and sea flows. The associations of living beings with biotic and abiotic factors structure a biological system. Indeed, even moment changes in any one factor in a biological system can impact whether a specific plant or creature species will be effective in its condition. Life forms and their condition continually associate, and both are changed by this connection. Like all other living animals, people have plainly changed their condition, however they have done so for the most part on a more fantastic scope than have every single other specie. A portion of these human-actuated changesâ€such as the devastation of the world’s tropical downpour woodlands to make homesteads or munching land for cattleâ€have prompted adjusted atmosphere designs. Thus, adjusted atmosphere designs have changed the manner in which creatures and plants are disseminated in various biological systems. Researchers study the drawn out outcomes of human activities on the earth, while environmentalistsâ€professionals in different fields, just as concerned citizensâ€advocate approaches to diminish the effect of human action on the normal world. Circumstance is one of the determinants of character which impacts the impact of heredity and condition on character. Character, which is commonly steady, frequently changes in various situations. For model, we may carry on distinctively at a gathering with our companions instead of how we would do at a get-together of work partners and our chiefs. 2. Demeanor alludes to an assessment or general inclination about something. Mentalities are, basically sentiments towards individuals or things. How individuals feel, what they accept, what they mean to do, and whether and how they do it might all be associated, and may all be identified with the procedure of discernment. To attempt to lessen the disarray around there over the utilization of words and ideas, for example, â€Å"feelings† and â€Å"beliefs†, Fishbein (19670 set forward the accompanying progressive model. Convictions What we think about individuals, things, connections and so forth â€Å"My work gives no challenge† Attitudes Affective reactions to those individuals, things, connections and so on. â€Å"I see work just as a way to getting money† Intentions Congnitive states â€Å"I will search for my test in my recreation time† Behavior or Action Observable occasions â€Å"I take up mountaineering† Attitudes are found out. They get from our own response to data and occasions, which show themselves as convictions and emotions about a specific subject. We learn a significant number of our mentalities when we are youthful. They are molded by everyone around us and the conditions or circumstances in which we get ourselves. Some-especially emotions are solid to such an extent that they remain with remain with us and influence us for the remainder of our lives. The scope of impacts is perplexing, yet it incorporates the accompanying: * The gatherings to which we have a place most prominently, in early life, the family, yet in addition fellowship gatherings, work bunches * Education * Life encounters especially the most significant individual ones, for example, mourning, and so on yet in addition those encounters which we watch e. g on Tv

Environmental Management Case Study Example

Environmental Management Case Study Example Environmental Management Case Study â€" Assignment Example > 28 December, 2010.IntroductionThere are interactions between the various constituents of the environment like the different life forms, energy and material resources as well as the atmosphere. For instance, alterations in biosphere composition influence the atmosphere composition. Most important are the effect of human activity on the environment, and the outcomes of these effects on human well-being. All environmental problems are mainly related to the use and distribution of resources, affecting water, air as well as soil quality and quantity. The growth of population and economic wealth, along with the increase of several processes, like urbanization and industrialization, has led to a high consumption of natural resources and as a result, negative effects on the sustainability of the ecological quality have risen (Cortés, and Poch p. 5). An environmental management system (EMS) is a formal approach to managing the aspects of an organization’s activities, products and servic es that have, or could have an impact on the environmentEnvironmental management and management systemsAccording to the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), an environmental management system (EMS) is that part of the overall management system that includes organizational structure, planning activities, responsibilities, practices, procedures, processes as well as resources for developing, implementing, achieving, reviewing and maintaining the environmental policy. An EMS enables private companies, federal and state agencies as well as other organizations to establish, and assess the effectiveness of processes to set environmental policy and objectives, achieve compliance, and demonstrate such compliance to others. In reference to the 2007 Sheffield floods, the EMSs are discussed as a means to offer standardized frameworks from which individualized performance criteria can be established and measured. Therefore, an organization can know whether it has actually redu ced levels of resource consumption or environmental emissions rather than whether it has merely met a regulation. Due to such catastrophes, there are international standards that cover EMSs that have been developed to provide organizations with the elements of an EMS that can be integrated with other management functions to help them attain environmental and economical goals. For instance, ISO 14000 is one of the standards that supports environmental protection and prevent pollution in balance with socioeconomic needs. ISO 14000 entails sixteen standards that handle organizational issues and products. ISO 14001 is the EMS specification document outlining the requirements that an organization must meet for its EMS to be registered or certified to the standard. It is a tool to measure the effectiveness off environmental management programs. When addressing such scenarios as the 2007 Sheffield floods, it is important to know that when an EMS is integrated into an organization’s bus iness decision making processes, it can improve program management and enhance environmental performance. Also, when an EMS is incorporated into central management systems and organizational strategies, there is less need for external oversight as core business operations take ownership of environmental responsibility. Thus organizations ought to implement EMSs within their organization. The full cost of implementing an EMS includes the salary and time costs of in-house staff devoted to the project, as well as costs of any certification program. Most of organizations have incorporated environmental management systems in their culture but there is need for improvement. When the culture of an organization is changing, the most challenging aspect facing such organizations is how to institute new management systems that require major change in their internal culture, away from compliance-based reporting and toward more active environmental stewardship. To achieve this and make these p rograms successful, organizations need to incorporate the critical elements of outreach, education as well as training since changing the culture requires analysis of how things were done in the past and what was wrong in that approach, as well as why the new system is better. Thus to avoid such disaster I future, organizations need to shift from environmental protection and prevention of pollution by involving all of their employees, building an infrastructure to support them in taking responsibility for the environmental aspects of their jobs, as well as educating them concerning environmental issues (Federal Facilities Council et al. 1999 p. 5).

Instagram has a new algorithm that favors engagement, therefore promoting users with the highest engagement. These things are what separate social media platforms and make them useful for different occasions. This is why it is important to understand what these various social media platforms are and what can be done on them as a business and understand what is being done with them concerning law enforcement. Various Social Media Platforms Facebook Facebook is the most popular social media platform as of June 2017, with an estimated 2 billion monthly users (Constine, 2017). What it is, is a place to set up a profile, upload pictures and videos, and connect with the world. Users can create fan pages, business pages, and personal pages where people can come and see what users have to offer. Some celebrities for example, have Facebook fan pages with hundreds of thousands of likes. Facebook is a site where people establish community and communicate with each other through liking each other’s posts, replying to comments, making posts, and instant messaging. Facebook is also a place where people can connect with people they already know. Many users often connect with old school friends, teachers, and distant relatives. It has an easy to use interface with advertising displayed for businesses to promote their products and services. Being the most popular social media platform, it has generated ways to keep reinventing itself. For example, now Facebook has enabled monetized views similar to YouTube (Griffith, 2015). Facebook is a global social media platform Facebook exists as an international powerhouse when it comes to its reach. That is why businesses have grown to use Facebook as one of their main ways to promote and advertise. With new tools for such use, Facebook has continued its innovative path towards ongoing success. â€Å"Through a new feature called dynamic language optimization, brands can configure single campaign that features text in multiple languages, and Facebook will automatically show the version that corresponds to each audience member’s preferred language as set in their Facebook profile† (Peterson, 2017). This success comes from the ability for people to communicate and connect from all over the world and for businesses to come and introduce new customers to their products and services. Instagram Image-driven, with 800 million active users each month (Statista, 2017), Instagram provides users with one minute or less videos, images, and chances to comment, reply, and direct message so users can interact with the world. Some celebrities have stated they can earn upwards of hundreds of thousands of dollars per Instagram post. â€Å"The Keeping Up with the Kardashians stars’ names are so valuable that brand executives shell out six figures for a social media endorsement, Michael Heller, CEO of digital marketing firm Talent Resources† (Ergas, 2017). That kind of money is what makes businesses and organizations reach out to the most popular social media influencers on Instagram. The Kardashians and Jenners are the most notable Instagram users with Kylie Jenner and Kim Kardashian being some of the most popular users amassing millions of like within hours of posting a new picture. Interfaces well with other social media like Twitter Because Instagram is mainly for images and videos, Twitter is a perfect match for Instagram as Twitter is mainly known for its 140-character (now 280-character) word limit posts known as ‘tweets’. Like Instagram, a tweet can be a way social media influencer can make money as companies may pay an influencer to promote a product. Businesses also place ads on Twitter along with Instagram and can create accounts to promote brand awareness for their business. People often follow Twitter users for what they say and if they post interesting images or videos, it could make its way to Instagram as a screenshot or repost. LinkedIn Designed specifically for career development, and human resources, LinkedIn is the ‘Facebook’ for professionals. For people looking for a job or looking to hire someone, LinkedIn provides access to resumes, experience anecdotes, and a personal means of communication with prospective employees or employers. Many people often site LinkedIn as a good networking tool that can sometimes parlay into getting a job or generating a collaborative effort with someone. Companies have noted that recruitment using LinkedIn has led to successful employment of qualified employees. â€Å"According to LinkedIn’s own research, these sites (one of which is LinkedIn) have seen a 73% increase in job recruitment usage, compared to a 15% increase for internet job boards and a 16% decrease for staffing agencies† (DeMers, 2015). Different from the other social media. Active monthly users are 500 million, a number expected to grow in upcoming years (Darrow, 2017). Along with the ability to post one’s resume and contact prospective employees or employers, there is also a chance to see what kind of skills one may need to attract employment. By connecting with successful people in one’s own desired fields, a person can see what kind of experience and skill sets are needed to achieve the kind of job they seek. Think of LinkedIn as a more professional Facebook. Twitter Twitter is one of the lesser popular social media sites with 328 Million active monthly users (Constine, 2017). However, it is one of the sites that provides businesses with a way to create a connection to their customer base that may not be so genuine in other social media platforms. For example, Wendy the fast food chain, has gained notoriety and internet fame for their sassy Twitter account. This account makes consistent viral posts that make users laugh, generating increased brand awareness for the company. Wendys fast food chain might be named after a sweet little girl, but dont be fooled by that seemingly innocent exterior. Beneath that sign lurks a world of sass, as Twitter users everywhere have recently been discovering. The fast food restaurant is well known for its hamburgers and chicken sandwiches, but theyve also started to serve up double helpings of shut the hell up to anybody brave enough to take them on via Twitter (Gould-Bourn, 2017). While less personal than Facebook, Twitter has become the better choice for media and marketing with retweets going as high as one million and users engaging with Twitter accounts in the form of thousands of likes within seconds of posting. Twitter has a long way to go before reaching the popularity of Facebook. Nonetheless, it is the kind of website that has remained popular after all these years alongside Facebook. Businesses love Twitter and so do its loyal users. Snapchat Snapchat is a recent addition to the social media platforms compared to its predecessors. With 255 million monthly users (Constine, 2017), the 2011 founded social media app allows users to send 10 second ‘snaps’ or videos/pictures to followers or their friends all over the world. They can instant message and also promote their merchandise if they happen to have an online business. Many major social media influencers like Shane Dawson, have Snapchat and snap for example, t-shirt lines, recently release books, and latest creative projects. In fact, there are definite opportunities for branding and advertising on Snapchat because of the level of engagement. Users must touch the ad and companies, or users can see if the snap was played or not. This is a more direct and engaging way to promote a product and promote brand awareness. These kinds of snaps can be seen through Snapchat’s ‘Discover’ feature. â€Å"Discover is Snapchat’s boldest inclusion. Few social networks go the route of tailor-made professional content, but that’s what we have here. Think original content that â€Å"counts on editors and artists, not clicks and shares,† as the company puts it† (Harding, 2015). Differences Between Social Media Platforms Marketing Tools No one social media is â€Å"better† than the others; they are different, and users interact differently. Facebook, being the most popular social media platform, has generated tools to allow businesses to take bigger steps towards digital marking. Allowing people to connect with anybody, from their best friends to distant relatives, as well as share their personal thoughts, pictures, videos, blogs and links. The addition of Facebook Chatbots has also opened up a whole new world in customer service and digital marketing (Willis, 2017). Twitter has a different approach, allowing the use of hashtags to generate interest and start trends within the platform. Instagram allows businesses to reach social media influencers to promote their product. All these avenues are different, but all these avenues can lead to success and profit for companies wishing to engage. Therefore, companies and government agencies need to diversify their social media platform and communication strategy to use different media. Influencing the ways people communicate or socialize Some social media is for interpersonal relations, and others are for information sharing, yet others for professional networking. As was mentioned before, LinkedIn can be used to connect and network as an employer or as an employee. However, other social media platforms like YouTube can also be used. YouTube recently has implemented new algorithms intended to promote advertiser-friendly users and discourage content from unfriendly users. However, this has led to some backlash from users and made YouTube attempt to finetune their algorithms. â€Å"New algorithm is supposed to accurately reflect YouTube’s guidelines for ad-friendly material. It will supposedly reduce the number of demonetized listings by 30 percent, so â€Å"millions more videos† will be able to make money off the full range of advertisements† (Robertson, 2017). Facebook is still used for friendship development more than other platforms like Twitter, but all social media offers opportunities for bu sinesses and media organizations still exist and will continue to as social media diversifies and evolves. Uses for law enforcement Social media is a great way to catch criminals. As Facebook is the most popular social media platform, criminals often use it and in doing so, give clues to law enforcement to find them. They may make a post and their friends and family may interact, giving law enforcement access to potential witnesses or gain potential tips of crimes committed and whereabouts of suspects. â€Å"Facebook is helping to catch criminals. Sometimes, police are able to get tips from suspects friends after the suspect inevitably brags about his deviant behavior on the social networking site† (Roufa, 2017). Bragging about crimes is surprisingly common. What used to be done in person and in private, is now being done on social media to the joy of law enforcement that find it easier to track and catch criminals. Sometimes criminals are so naà ¯ve they post their wanted photos as their profile pictures giving notification to police that they may have a warrant out for their arrest. â€Å"In 2016, Mack Yearwood decided to post his wanted photo as his Facebook profile picture. He was tracked down to his brother’s house and arrested for the warrants† (Bires, 2017). These kinds of mistakes make it easier and easier for police and the FBI to track down criminals. Furthermore, it makes it faster to spot potential problems like tweets suggesting a person is going to assassinate the President of the United States. Privacy and security Privacy and security are always going to be issues when it comes to the internet. Social media is a big part of the internet and users have shared their horror stories of hacked accounts and people finding their home address and contact information, even murders of popular social media influencers. However, what if, the actual social media website is compromising one’s data? Kashmir Hill made the discovery last year the Facebook uses users’ locations to suggest friends. â€Å"Kashmir Hill, over at Fusion, discovered Facebook had been using location to suggest friends. The social network even admitted to doing so, claiming to combine that data with other factors, such as work and education information or mutual friends† (Fox-Brewster, 2016). This may be suitable for Facebook to continue building their site, but if this has the potential to invade a person’s privacy and security, what should be allowed in these kinds of companies? When it comes to social media, there are just too many ways for the public to see and know what one does. Some people wishing to keep private and only reach out to people they know on social media suggest privating their profiles on social media platforms like Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook so they know who they accept to see their pictures, videos, and content. Some suggest changing the passwords to their accounts every month to keep hackers out, even using a burner phone to thwart hacking through tw0-step verification. Whatever measures people want to take, it is important to understand that social media is vulnerable to online attacks. Conclusion Different social media platforms need to be used differently and strategically by organizations. For example, Instagram can be used to promote items more than services. Since it is an app used mainly for images, people want more visual than anything else. A good ad campaign may feature a model who has a strong social media following and that is often a great way to engage potential new customers and keep them engaged. That is why the Kardashian-Jenner clan are paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to promote a product. Twitter on the other hand, users often look at written posts and therefore presents a great opportunity for businesses to connect to their customers through company twitter profiles like Wendy’s has done. Ideally, organizations use multiple social media platforms in a comprehensive marketing strategy. For example, a business selling weight loss tea can have hire social media influencers to promote a slimming tea to their followers through a sexy fitness picture. Then the company can make a Facebook page and promote a community globally. They can also make a Twitter profile to not only entertain potential new customers, but also handle potential complaints they may have. While social media presents some threats to privacy and security, users still appreciate these tools and will continue to use them. This is because it has become a main source of communication for many. More than a decade ago sites like YouTube, Twitter, and Facebook existed as what some may call a ‘phase’ of the internet where youth talk to each other online. However, social media has become more than that. Especially when it comes to business, it can reach major demographics like never before. For companies to come and take a share of a huge profitable pie that is social media is to take on a great and lucrative opportunity to increase their customer base, gain quality recruits, and develop brand awareness like the world has never seen before. Social media’s grip is unparalleled and that is why, so many have decided to join the social media movement, especially businesses. It is the new form of communication. References Bires,  M. Exploring The Value Performance Coaching - 1130 Words

In recent years there has been an increased interest in coaching. The term coaching is relatively new, however Leonard-Cross (2010, pp.36) suggests that it has been around for centuries and today, it is acknowledged as good management practice (Redshaw 2000, pp.106). Coaching comes in multiple forms, carries various conceptualisations and benefits a magnitude of situations (Redshaw, 2000; Hamlin and Ellinger, 2009; Brown and Grant, 2010; Leonard-Cross, 2010). Forms vary from performance and business coaching to sports and life coaching. With this in mind, this essay will critically analyse what coaching is and explore the value performance coaching holds to organisations, this will be undertaken with reference to key coaching models and†¦show more content†¦To conclude the definition of coaching, one can state that it is an ongoing facilitative relationship with a focus on effective learning, progression and action planning. Performance coaching in this light will take a sim ilar definition, although coaching sessions may primarily take place within the workplace. The concept of coaching has been challenged for many years with the various conceptualisations of the term coach or coaching. Practitioners and academics have different understandings of the term (Hamlin and Ellinger, 2009, pp.13) and it is often used throughout business with various preceding tags. From life, sports and workplace coaching the themes and perspectives vary significantly. Practitioners that see themselves as coaches Wilson (2011, pp.7) argues, are simply taking advantage of the label for personal and monetary gain, including the likes of fitness coaches, diet and food coaches. A Sports coach typically tells the coachees what to do and where they are going wrong, whereas a true coach is a facilitator allowing people to learn, develop and fulfil their potential (Somers, 2006, pp.10; Whitmore, 2010, pp.10). This all suggests that coaching requires someone acting as the coach and someone the coachee. Some evidence suggests that self-coaching is an effective means, drawing upon self-persuasion theory (Aronson, 1999a; 1999b cited in Sue†Chan and Latham, 2004, pp.261).
